The 12 to 19 Percent Problem: German SME Bonds Nobody Can Verify
Thirteen tokenized SME bonds issued under Germany's eWpG advertise fixed coupons of 12 to 19 percent, yet none of their payment schedules can be confirmed from public sources.
Quavvo Market Monitor · Research Notes No. 1
The finding
Of the 313 tokenized instruments published on the Quavvo Market Monitor, 87 are coupon-bearing. Only 28 of those have a payment schedule we could source from verifiable public documentation, and only 11 have a confirmed fixed rate. For a market built on the promise of transparency, the servicing layer is remarkably opaque.
The anomaly sits at the high end of the yield curve. Thirteen German SME bonds issued as eWpG crypto securities advertise fixed coupons between 12 and 19 percent. For none of them could we confirm a payment schedule from public data. By contrast, the well-documented institutional digital bonds in the corpus pay 2 to 3.7 percent and publish their terms. The instruments promising the most yield disclose the least about how and when it gets paid.
We are not suggesting these issuers fail to pay. We are stating something narrower and, for the market’s credibility, arguably worse: from public information, nobody can tell. An investor, an auditor, or a regulator looking at these instruments today cannot independently verify the payment calendar of securities marketed on their yield. That verification gap, not the technology, is the part of tokenization still waiting to be built.

Method
Every claim on this page follows the Monitor’s sourcing rule: better no data than wrong data. A payment schedule counts as sourced only when confirmed by regulatory filings, offering documents, or equivalent primary material. Issuer marketing pages do not count as confirmation. Where evidence was ambiguous, instruments were held out of this analysis rather than included. Seven instruments were deliberately excluded pending better evidence.
A further set of eWpG SME instruments in the same coupon band remains in curation and is excluded here pending verification; the count may grow in future notes.
